Essential Oils: What they are and how to use them.

Hello Lovelies!! So now that we know what crystals are, and how we can use them as a beautiful holistic healing tool, lets get onto one of our other amazing tools for self-healing and mood management ~ Essential Oils!!!

Essential Oils are Mother Nature’s Medicine. They have countless uses, and have been used specifically for emotional aromatherapy for thousands of years! I believe they are the best tool you can use for immediate stress relief and mood management!!

Today, popular uses include everything from minor first aid and alternative medicine to using them as natural house cleaners, used in cooking, scented candles, and body / skin care products. Personally, I use, and teach about how to use them in the following four ways – (this will naturally depend on your personal needs);
~ Chakra Balancing – along with our healing crystals
~ Space Clearing and adding Good Vibes (negative ions) to your Environment
~ Mood Management
~ Emotional and Spiritual Self-Healing

How do I use Essential Oils?

There are three main application methods used when working with essential oils.

These methods are;
~ Topical Application – properly diluted with a carrier oil when necessary, especially for babies, children and those with sensitive skin.
~ Aromatic – inhaled from an open bottle, or diffused into the air via a diffuser.
~ Internal – I do not recommend, but feel free to use your own judgment.

**Personally, I only use Essential Oils Topically and Aromatically.

There are many Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils that are labelled as being “safe for internal use”, but I would encourage you to do your homework. Make sure that you are comfortable with your knowledge of how to use essential oils internally, before attempting this application method.

Internal use of essential oils is not an area that I touch upon during my workshops, in my blog, or in my personal practice, but if this interests you, you may enjoy the Modern Essentials Book for more information!

There are many essential oil companies out there, with many different levels of purity and grade. I have used a few different brands in the past, but today I only use (and recommend) Doterra Oils. This is just my personal preference, what I teach with, and the brand that I highly recommend to my student and clients. When choosing which essential oils brand you are going to use, you want to make sure that their potency (how the plants and herbs are farmed, ie. organic, will result in a more potent, higher quality oil) and their purity.

Many essential oils available are not certified “pure”, meaning they contain synthetic fillers and other elements, like alcohol, that dilutes the qualities of the oils and diminishes their health benefits.

With diluted products, especially those with alcohol, your oils will evaporate, and you will end up using a lot more than necessary and spending a lot more money on oils in the long run. So, choosing a quality brand will not only save you money, but you can be assured that you are using oils that are going to be safe to use and benefit your physical, mental, emotional, and energetic wellness.

In the next post, I will discuss how to balance your chakras using essential oils!
